There is no place on the female body that requires more delicate surgery than the prepuce, the skin over the clitoris. Here we use our proprietary Diamond Laser Scalpel™. This unique scalpel is created from a diamond and delivers the focused beam of our Diamond Vaginal Rejuvenation Laser (Diamond VRL). This allows our surgeons to sculpt, resize and reshape the prepuce according to the desires of our patient, as demonstrated in our pre-procedure photo-morphing session. The Diamond Laser Scalpel is the most precise and bloodless instrument available for operating on the prepuce. The use of this laser results in rapid healing and a superior cosmetic outcome.
The goal of a good prepuceplasty is to reshape and/or resize the skin overlying the clitoris (also called the Prepuce).
There are several barriers to a good prepuceplasty:
- Bleeding: The prepuce is rich in blood supply. Even small amounts of bleeding during or after the surgery can lead to separation of the incision. This can result in unsightly scar formation.
- Tissue Injury: Surgeons often use electrocautery to control bleeding by burning open blood vessels. Some surgeons alternatively chose to “Zap” bleeding vessels with a laser beam. Both methods result in significant thermal damage to surrounding tissue and can result in scar formation.
- Bad Planning: Unless the surgeon has a good understanding of what the patient wants her prepuce to look like, the result may not make the patient happy. What the surgeon creates and what the patient wants need to be one and the same.
- Excessive removal of skin: This can expose the clitoris creating discomfort with everyday activities.
The Diamond Laser Prepuceplasty utilizes our proprietary Diamond Scalpel and laser (The Diamond VRL). This unique laser tool allows us to make incisions as precise as a scalpel with almost no bleeding or thermal injury to surrounding tissue. Your GyneShape surgeon will take photographs of your prepuce before the surgery and use proprietary morphing software to computer generate your desired changes. This allows you to show us exactly what you want.
Note: Circumcision is the process of removing all or a substantial amount of the prepuce with the goal of exposing the Clitoris. GyneShape strongly discourages this procedure as it may result in significant discomfort and/or overstimulation. GyneShape does however acknowledge that laser reduction of of small to moderate amounts of the prepuce is reasonable and acceptable for some women.
