This procedure utilizes a completely different type of laser than the GyneShape Laser Vaginoplasty. Here we use our proprietary Diamond Laser Scalpel™. The goal of any good labial rejuvenation procedure is to create the labia that the patient desires. For some women this is a simple symmetrical decrease in size. For other women, this means a change in size, shape, and/or removal of discoloration.
There are several barriers to a good labiaplasty:
- Bleeding: The labia are rich in blood supply. Even small amounts of bleeding during or after the surgery can lead to separation of the incision. This can result in unsightly scar formation.
- Tissue Injury: Surgeons often use electrocautery to control bleeding by burning open blood vessels. Some surgeons alternatively chose to “Zap” bleeding vessels with a laser beam. Both methods result in significant thermal damage to surrounding tissue and can result in scar formation.
- Bad Planning: Unless the surgeon has a good understanding of what the patient wants her labia to look like, the result may not make the patient happy. What the surgeon creates and what the patient wants need to be one and the same.
The Diamond Laser Labiaplasty utilizes our proprietary Diamond Scalpel and laser (The DiamondVRL™). This unique laser tool allows us to make incisions as precise as a scalpel with almost no bleeding or thermal injury to surrounding tissue.
