The external genital organs of the female, including the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and vestibule of the vagina. Enlargement, malshape, and/or discoloration of the vulva may occur following vaginal childbirth. However, aging and loss of youthful hormone levels may also contribute or cause such. Some women will not have these risk factors but rather have a genetic tendency toward enlarged, malshaped, or discolored labia. Click here to see common treatable deformities of the vulva.

The vagina rests inside of the pelvis between the rectum and the bladder. In its normal stage, prior to the stretching associated with vaginal child birth or changes that occur with aging, hysterectomy or other surgery, the vagina has a small tapered entrance that slowly increases in diameter. The uterus, not shown here, normally sits at the top of the vagina.
